If you can't beat them...

Lowther Show.

Today we went to Lowther show and for the first time in 20 - 25 years we were there as spectators rather than stall holders. I am afraid as far as trading at Lowther is concerned they have priced themselves out of our range.

It was an extremely moist day but the field due to good management wasn't muddy. We enjoyed a wide range of things Whiskey from the stand advertising Cumbria's first whiskey distillery (a blend not their own they aren't producing yet) a demonstration of hawking from horseback. This was particularly interesting as the gentleman used a Portuguese style of riding where he controlled the horse just by his feet.

While we were at the gun dog trials I borrowed clickychick's DSLR and as a result got better shots of the activity than I might otherwise. The dog shown is at the end of a test where it watches two dummies thrown into separate sections of the course and it goes over the 7 or 8 jumps and retrieves each in turn.
