Gruffalo Picnic

Ethan was a bit sad this morning because Aunty Paula, Finley & Thomas were going home.

He soon cheered up though as his friend Anna and her mummy arrived to pick us up to take us to The Helix for a Gruffalo Picnic! It's advertised as being for under 5's and although Ethan and Anna enjoyed it, I'd say they're perhaps getting slightly too old for that sort of thing. They had to follow pawprints to find cuddly toys from the Gruffalo (snake / mouse / fox etc) then go into the woods (which were full of stinging nettles and poor Anna got stung on her hand). There were lots of activities for the kids to do in the woods - painting / skittles / pin the wart on the gruffalos nose / stories etc etc. The gruffalo himself of course made an appearance too and Ethan (who was dressed up as the Gruffalos Child) enjoyed "scaring" him and making him run away! They provided gruffalo cupcakes which went down a treat and we all took picnics with us too.

After that, Ethan and Anna played at The Helix playpark for a while before we headed home.

A quick turnaround for us - Ethan relaxed on the sofa with the ipad while I packed his trunki. Then off to his new N-er-getix class as I've booked him into a Sunday afternoon one as he won't be able to go to his Monday daytime once in Bathgate once he starts school. He was a bit nervous at first as he's used to going to the class with Eden, but afterwards he told me he really enjoyed it and wants to keep going. Phew!

Then over to the Foreveryoungs for his final Sunday sleepover for a while!
