Stranger in a Strange Land

The beautiful PURPLE LOOSESTRIFE is usually considered a pest. One of the problems seems to be that the native animals such as the muskrat feed on the cattails and the loosestrife then takes over. The cattails seem lush here but i saw no muskrats. Will try to observe.
