Umbra and Penumbra.
Today I mostly played golf in a competition on a Scottish Golf course to the north of Glasgow. We didn't win.
The weather was not as bad as had been forecast, although the strong wind made for testing conditions on the course (Well that's my excuse!)
Today I forgot to take my camera to the golf club and again when we went out for a curry in the evening. It was only when I went to bed and took this ball out of my pocket that I remembered!
This infamous, and now blipped, ball knows its way round the whole course, including some of the rougher areas!! I shall keep it for next year in the hope it will remember some of the better places to land on the fairways and greens.
The Umbra refers to the darker area of shadow formed by the ball totally obscuring the light from the bedside lamp shining on the table and the penumbra, the lighter part of shadow, where the ball only partially blocks the light from the lamp shining on the table.
If I'd also had an orange, an apple and some maltesers, I could have made a model of the solar system, but I ate them on the journey yesterday!
Also - the food served in a Scottish curry house is surprisingly different from that in Hemel Hempstead - almost foreign!!!
