Fly Tippers
On the way out for our walk saw a large plastic bag lying in a nearby field no doubt thrown out of a car window and blown in to the middle of the field by this morning's stiffish breeze.
On the way home, took a small diversion to pick it up. Not our field but it looks unpleasant and I was after all a boy scout...
Quite a shock when I got next to it! A mushroom! Well the season has started but I don't either remember seeing one in the middle of a frequently mowed grass/silage field nor such a size. Many around here (including MrB) will not eat wild mushrooms from here due to the dangers of radioactive fallout from Chernobyl in 1986! Wild boar still has to be tested by law. Restrictions on sheep in the UK were finally lifted only 2 years ago! Apparently we need to reckon with problems for only another 100 years.
Most will be aware of my views on this wonderful cheap, clean energy source. I didn't go as far as douse the dogs afterwards but we didn't get any closer to the mutant mushroom. Neither Angie or I are particularly partial to them anyway.
After lunch the dogs started barking quite fiercely in the direction of the forest. Took a look and could just make out some people in the distance. Not sure if forestry workers getting ready to hopefully fell some trees close to the house or probably more likely mushroom seekers.
