Red Kite.............

Slightly bigger and more impressive than your average Blue Tit and House Sparrow, this Red Kite glided over head effortlessly, probably looking for some breakfast.

I see them quite often while i'm crossing the Portsdown Hill either on my way too or from work, but usually some way off in the distance. This fella fortunately drifted almost directly overhead.

A beautiful bird in a beautiful blue sky.....................to think these birds were persecuted to extinction in the British Isles by farmer and hunters.

Thankfully the reintroduction has been very successful and at some time in the not to distant future they'll be seen in all areas of the United Kingdom.
