Agapanthus

This is the second year of cultivating this Agapanthus (African lily) in a patio container. Its showy flowers in shades of blue like sunshine and there has been plenty this year. In this shot a little hoverfly is heading straight for one of lilac-blue flower heads. It was shot from below which was not too difficult using the swivel back on my Sony Cybershot RX100II. This made the sky and clouds the backdrop, needing an exposure compensation of +1 with sunlight coming from above left. The plant was slow to flower this summer but it will give colour and drama to the patio for 4/5 weeks with its dramatic height and spread.
