Marie Noel

Marie Noël, Contemporary French Poet

Today we set off cycling through Burgundy, first we visited Auxerre, so after about 5 hours we had only managed about 3 kilometers !

But we did see some interesting things - first inthe Abbey of Saint-Germain d'Auxerre where ther old crypt is beautifully excavated and displayed beneath a suspended walkway, and in the Cathedral (Cathédrale Saint-Étienne d'Auxerre) where actually our attention was on an incredible display of textile art by Daniele Tournemine ( see here for a look)

In Auxerre there where a couple of statues like this image of Marie Noel - have to confess that I needed to look her up to know why she was being honored like this - turns out she is a famous French Poet.
