The Bear and Ragged Staff

I noticed this today on a house that used to be a Police House back in the day when housing was provided for police officers. It's the emblem for the Warwickshire Constabulary and Warwickshire County. Apparently it dates back to at least the 14th century, the Beauchamp Family and the Earls of Warwick. The barely legible motto at the bottom is Non Sanz Droict (not without right). I've just learnt that was on Shakespeare's coat of arms too. Well you live and learn!
