Marzipan
It had to be done, and so I finally bit the bullet and took the 12" fruit cake in to the kitchen and prepared to marzipan it.
The main fear was because it is so big and heavy, it is quite scary trying to turn it over on to the marzipan, and then back again.
Mission accomplished, and no breakages, I am glad that is over.
It will not need turning over again fortunately, just icing and decorating along with its three smaller sisters.
