Just one day.....

.....is all it took for these toadstools to emerge from the sand! They still have residual sand on their cups to testify to the speed with which they erupted! Amazing!

Our soil here in the west, on the edge of a desert, is at it's best not much more than black sand. It is an annual chore to enrich, add to and mulch this soil to help things to grow, and yet, in the midst of the poor black sand that is what those of us on this west coast strip live with, out pop these amazing fungi full of life and moisture!

It's a strange world!
