Worldview from Garden of Epicure
It nearly did not rain today. During the night it had been pouring. But the new morning welcomed us with a sunny face here and there. So first we sat on our veranda, reading and enjoying our espresso. Then we decided to drive to the Northwest into East-Westphalia to check-out the todo&wishlist. But as we passed by through the Weser-town of Höxter, we had to visit the Botanical Garden there. It is a rather small garden, very beautifully layed out on a steep hillside looking over the vast Weser river landscape and the Solling Mountain beyond.
This jewel of a garden belongs to the Campus of the EastWestphalian University of Applied Sciences. But as it is still summer holliday the Campus is in full rest. You can study here - among many other disciplines - Landscape architecture, wood technology, environmental engineering and food technology. The buildings of this “Agricultural Highschool” as we would have called it years ago, are constructed in and between the surrounding garden. You can study and follow lectures inside and outside. There are two small amphitheatres: it is a Real garden of Epicure on the Wilhelmshöhe towards the Goat Mountain. We love to visit botanical gardens where ever we happen to be. And I cherish many memories of very happy and creative stays on wooden benches, reading and writing.
In a similar way to that green semi-outdoor reflective and meditative practice, for which our Carlsheaven Home on the Foresthill is so wonderfully fit, opening up and inviting. So, in short, todays photo shows you the symbolism of my Garden of Epicure. The Appletree is bearing fruit. Sunlit are the fruits of careful cultivation. As the plants and we are grounding and rooting in an healthy environment. And by the grace of our ecologically deepened practice, we develop an infinite farsighted perspective, open up to unknown horizons, while the new fruits are ripening in half hidden sun towards the end of August.
