Around the World in 80 Blips - 3
Playing copycat after Chick Flick and Northern Exposure led the way, today it was my turn to stand opposite a webcam while Beth Wester Ross worked on things at the computer end.
It's all good fun, even if passers-by (and certainly this one) were a bit bemused by the fact that I stood in the same spot for twenty minutes, taking what probably looked like very pointless photographs of a not very attractive corner in the centre of Dublin city. This is the junction of Talbot Street (continuing to the right) and Gardiner Street. Talbot Street stretches from Connolly Station to O'Connell Street, the principal thoroughfare in the centre of Dublin. Gardiner Street runs past Mountjoy Square down to the Custom House and the main crossing to the posher Southside.
The webcam which took Beth's pic is plainly visible on the corner of the blue building. There are no fewer than six Big Brother cameras at this location, some for traffic control, some for ATM security. The camera of our moment is the right-hand one of the pair of small globular ones.
