The Crossing

Today was the last day of our safari......
we saw another crossing/ migration of a herd of gnus - really exciting .... when it starts in earnest ........ but then it is really a sight I won't ever forget ....
after the crossing we had a picnic in the Serengeti ....... just aaaawesome!!!!!!!

we saw during our stay in Tanzania
- lots and lots and lots of elephants (.... *sigh*.....)
- herds of buffalos (one single very cute one standing very posing like in the crater.....)
- two leopards - they do have a very chilled life! Chillin' on a tree - hunting a little - taking the prey up on the tree - and chillin' again......
- lions!!!! SO VERY AWERSOME!!!!!! And then even some more ...... a mum with her cubs, chilling on a rock....... two cubs, eating a giraffe (I know..... sorry.....), while dad was watching.....
- and two rhinos........ even when they both were very far away...... the first was running along in the distance and it was so awesome to watch - even if the pictures aren't that impressive.......
But I got to see all of the 'Big 5' - and it was an experience of a lifetime!!!

Apart of the 'Big 5' I simply loved
the zebras - they are so beautiful, so amazing, so ........ stylish ( ;-)) )
the giraffes - just fabulous, graceful, amazing animals (we even saw a very, very tiny one which looked like a toy giraffe from Hemley's ....... H asked (in jest) whether we could take it home.......but she asked the same question when we saw a 'tiny' elephant..... )
the cheetahs ...... so very chilled!!!
the hippos!!!! There were lots and lots and lots of them ....... such funny animals...... and when they lie in the water and do the 'hippo-roll' - hilarious!!!!
'my' two lions from Thursday - they were so very enchanting and beautiful and ...... whatever!!

It was such an amazing and magical experience - I still can't really believe I've been there ........ so very, very beautiful!

I will post my favorite pictures at my flickr account - once I get around choosing my very favorite ones...... but I do hope it won't be too long!

- oh!! And I really loved the hot water bottle in our last tented camp (where they wrapped my pajamas around the bottle while we were dining....) ..... the camp where one night two lions apparently kept watch over our two daughter's tent at night - they and some Kuria security guards....... all was well in the morning when they woke up again....... ;-))

Apologies again for not replying, not commenting and actually being not here at the moment - it will be getting better! For now a very big thank you for all the comments, stars and hearts_ I 'm so utterly pleased and happy you like my pictures and are still here............ see you soon......... :-))
