And she still likes a pint.......
.....and just because the firstborn loved yesterdays blip so much I thought I'd do another one (and of course it's nothing AT ALL to do with the fact I'm otherwise blip-bereft this morning).....this one's from the same b&w 35mm slide set.
* apparently we owed the newsagent 20p in 1978
* camping en famille would only be a possibility when we bought a bigger tent than the miniscule, coffin-shaped, slightly-mouldy-after-being-loaned-out-to-a-Newcastle-Journal-staffer-who-was-doing-a-review (we bought it, circa 1970, for £15 from the bargain bin at the LD Mountain Centre on Dean St in Newcastle)
* the relative comfort and convenience of a caravan was then but a distant dream, only realised some years later when we bought an already-vintage (but not in a good way) 10 footer (that's length not breadth) and a travel-stained-and-decaying awning with dodgy zips for about £100, I think the porta-pottie cost extra.....but it served us well!
* boating was WAY beyond our means except for hiring a rowing boat for half an hour at the local park
* the beer was home brew
* I wonder what happened to that radio...........
PS.....I can actually remember physically hanging that radiator in the background a few years earlier (but by by this this time it had been painted a rather luscious deep raspberry colour and the walls were a gingery brown.....hey, it was the 70's!) because J had a bad back at the time so I was temporarily promoted from apprentice 'casual labourer and pipe-cutter'.......I believe there were 'words';-)
