A memorial to those lost during the First World Wa
A special memorial to those who worked on the construction of Castle Drogo. It was decided by the group of workers that the men with families and children would continue the building of the castle and only single men would fight. The owner of the castle's three sons went to war and sadly one and several young men from the area never came back. Castle Drogo was the last castle built in the UK. It's well worth a visit although , currently it is covered in plastic supported by £800,000 worth of scaffolding aiding a £21 million renovation project. All hail to the National Trust.
