CannyScot's Day

By CannyScot

Edinburgh Fringe Festival

A lovely bright day in Edinburgh, though it did rain later.

Major problem today - so many possibilities to choose from for today's Blip. We visited the Scottish Parliament Buildings which have been designed so beautifully and are truly fit for the 21st Century. Within the Buildings is housed Scotland Great Tapestry - a magnificent collection of tapestry panels telling the story of Scotland's history. It was sewn by 1500 volunteers and is truly spectacular. It is on show until the 13th September.

Then we visited the National Museum of Scotland, primarily to go up to the roof Terrace for views of the City since it was such a beautiful day. What a truly magnificent city it is, surrounded as it is by hills and the Forth.

After lunch we took in the sights and sounds of the Fringe street theatre around the Royal Mile - thronging with people and actors/dancers and individuals doing things which were hard to believe.

All in all, a wonderful day. If you would like a flavour of all these places to whet your appetite for a visit maybe next year, then I invite you to see any or all of the four Flickr albums I made.
