long trip
Drove from home to our hotel in Àird a’ Bhàsair. That’s on An t-Eilean Sgitheanach (Skye) - the south east corner almost where the ferry arrives at Armadal.
218 miles via the Skye Bridge. 5 hours.
We had planned on taking the Caol Reatha Ferry, but it wasn’t running - maybe the weather, or maybe the tides.
The weather had been fine until we turned west off the A9 at Dalwhinnie. Rain turned into a downpour as we got further west. Not a fun drive.
The sun came out as we reached the hotel. A wee walk to stretch the legs and a lovely dinner in the hotel (scallops) helped us to unwind.
The Blip is the old pier at Armadal, just across the bay from the Calmac ferry terminal.
[Ed. note:- I have a thing about Gaelic. I can’t speak it and doubt I ever will. 5 languages is enough for one lifetime. However, I do expect those who do speak it to be respected and for their language and culture to be supported. Hence the use of Gaelic place names in my Skye Blips.)
