TItan for 600 blips

Today marks my 600th blip so what better than a blip of the Titan crane at Clydebank in Glasgow. It was a glorious but windy day and the trip to the top afforded us fantastic views along the Clyde and beyond in all directions.

Standing 150 feet high with a of cantilever 240 feet the 106-year old crane is one of only 13 of its kind left in the world, 4 more remain along the Clyde. It is designated as an 'International Historic Civil and Mechanical Engineering Landmark' by the American Society of Civil Engineers - joining the likes of the Eiffel Tower, the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Machu Picchu in Peru.

It was designed by Adam Hunter and was built in John Brown's shipyards and was used to fit out some of the world's biggest battleships and liners including the Queen Mary, Queen Elizabeth and the Queen Elizabeth 2. It survived the Clydebank Blitz of 1941.
