Coots

Well, by pure accident I stumbled upon this today. I had seen a nest of tiny coots last year and just happened to be passing by the same area today. The nest was there again, but the chics were a little bigger. They were so vocal, a constant chirping sound as their mother swam around the nest. The one chic was brave and entered the water (bottom right of shot), but the others just stayed near the nest.
