Young Redhead
Easy choice for today - this young redhead posed beautifully on the bit of twisted root that I'd set out as a prop. He kept hopping back and forth between the feeder and the root, each time with a fresh sunflower seed that he'd crack open and eat.
He's just coming into his adult plumage. All of the other young redheads (and there are quite a lot of them) are still brown. Maybe this means that he's a yearling, just coming into his adult plumage during the fall moult. I'm going to have to get a better bird book.
I got some nice movies of him too.
Incidently, he could just as well be a she as it's not easy to tell the sexes of the redheads apart.
