...From the Dark Dense Hedges on the edge of the downs,
the onlookers waited and watched.

Unaware that they are being watched, the thieves set about
the task of removing the Tomb lid.
Working together they began to heave the lid across, straining
their arms and backs as they pushed and pulled the lid till it toppled
from the Tomb, peering into the darkness within, they caught their
breathe as a poignant smell arose from the Tomb.

One of the onlookers was ready to tackle the thieves as they
descended down the stairway beneath the Tomb.
A hand on his shoulder held him back.
"wait until there inside"...."then we follow".....................
