Fred Fieber - the House Artist

Tuesday 19th August

You lot are SO kind to me - after walking home - yes, another 6 miles mostly in the dark, as yet another last bus was missed - 5.30pm, what sort of time is that for a last bus and quite useless for a sunset! - to over 50 new comments, two new subscribers, a bundle of Hearts and even a place on the Spotlights...

Will I ever learn and stick to bus timetables? Probably not - but SO tired this morning that I am definitely stuck in my armchair to attend dutifully to Blip, blip and yet more Blip.

Fred Fieber

At the Market, where he is working on one of his 'house portraits'. These are commissions from photographs and I guess, gifts to the owners of those homes. I have known Fred and his lovely wife since the first Salisbury Art Trail, as I had (on an unpaid basis) gone round to many of the venues, which included Fred's lovely characterful own house and photographed the artworks in situ.

Naturally, I say hello to him whenever I see him, which is rarely now as I do not move in those arty circles any more. After a few courteous lines of introduction he asked me if I was busy (as a photographer). I said that I was now doing this 'daily blog', as I describe it, because most people sort of know what that entails where 'blipping; or blipphoto obviously wouldn't.

There are many of you who want me to do more portraits and people. I wish I did too! There's still no way that I'm going to approach strangers but at least I asked Fred for a quick portrait for the day's image. He replied that might be a good idea but carried on drawing, head down. He then went on to say that the whole Blogging and online world is not something he is into. Literally, I could not find a website from Fred, but he seems to be really rather well known, with many art sites selling his work. This being an example.

As I clicked a couple of shots he then did look up, then smiled, as here. A second later he had spotted a potential customer and my time with Fred was over. I'm glad to have done him justice and I'm keeping this in colour as he is a friendly warm person, but in a professional way.

The same lens was on the camera from yesterday's Bath blip, so the lens is Sigma EX 24-70mm f2.8, which is a very fine lens to use around a market.
