Hunter gatherer alive and well in Sablieres

Back from the river triumphant with victory, DS#2, to the silent envy of DS#1, has managed to spear some random fish. Don't know who was more surprised - DS#2 or the fish. Great preparation of aforementioned fish before it was presented as a starter, promptly to be described by the assembled connoisseurs as "tasting of the river" Quel surpris.
Identification then attempted on the basis of taste and definitive ID made until it was realised that the particular species in mind lived only in the USA. Further research revealed its true identity as a dace. Interestingly if you google dace taste the first hit is worst food I ever ate .....
The rest of the meal was a tomato fest, not surprisingly as Tricia had spent the day in the kitcen reducing the tomato mountain. Still more of it to go sadly.
I lurked out of the way digging some new territory on one of the terraces we have started clearing. More roots than soil so far.
