The bondage tree.

This oak tree on a nondescript junction in Suffolk would have been barely 300 years old had it still been alive.

It has been the lucky recipient of worldwide fundraising and has been clad in irons and become more stone and cement than tree in an attempt to preserve and hold it together.

Yet nothing of any note, historical or otherwise, has happened to it. Its just a big dead tree.
