Ladybird books
J's reading is very good. In P1 when they were on the oxford reading tree's Kipper books he wasn't particularly interested and he would get "very bored" doing his reading homework but as he reached about half way through P1, it was as though something had switched on and he was suddenly wanting to read. He picked up very quickly from there and is now doing very well in P2. His class are following the Highland Literacy programme and they are now practising their spelling. He has a list of words that he supposedly finds (his favorite word) 'tricky'. They are: new, said, she, they, two, came, for, and have. All of which he has no problem with at all.
He has a pile of our old books, there quite a few Ladybird books and he loves them. So he read to me tonight The Three Billy Goats Gruff.....and he did very well.
