Polesden Lacy Mansion
We went here today and had a very good lunch and went in the house which had not been done for some years. It was as well as the weather was not as good as yesterday in spite of some showers. This is one of the largest National Trust houses in the South-East and is well worth a visit. Society Hostess, Mrs Ronnie Greville entertained Royalty from King Edward VII to KIng George VI and Queen Elizabeth (She attended both Coronations of these Monarchs) and collected a lot of extremely interesting works of art and porcellain in the time that she lived there. There are some fine portraits by Scottish artist, Dutch Old Masters and some from the 14th - 16th Centuries. There is a lot to see in the house and it is one of those places you can return to and not see absolutely everything.
