Reflections in a Pond

I bought a polarized filter to try. In the first place I was so impressed with myself that I bought the right one - so, success. Any tips on how to tell which photos I had used the filter on, focus settings, etc.? I knew it was towards the end of pictures. Do many people keep journals for that and other settings or is it somewhere obvious in the camera setting info? Thanks
