Craggy tree

Today I went for a wander to Edinburgh's Royal Botanic Garden, which has always been one of my favourite spots in the city.

After taking a couple of snaps of this tree, a brief hailstorm descended and I - having neither waterproof nor umbrella! - scurried away to find some shelter.

Anyway, this has always been my favourite tree in the Botanics: tall, craggy and full of character. In the summer the leaves envelop you, but in the winter the bare, tangled limbs grab all the attention.
