Jazz among the looms
We spent a fascinating few hours on this wet bank holiday at Coldharbour Mill in Uffculme, Devon.
Every Bank holiday they have a "steam up". We have lived only a few miles away for 15 years and never visited. So today, looking for something to entertain three generations in the rain, we did!
It was excellent, fascinating, educational and slightly surreal!
This jazz duo did a musical tour of the spinning machines and weaving looms- they walked around the various ancient machines, explained the function, powered them up and then played jazz - as you do!
The woollen mill was part powered by a giant water wheel and at a more later date by a giant steam engine ( which was in full steam today.)
It was a very interesting visit, only spoiled by the rain and the flat battery in the car when we returned to it!
