Brief Encounter
Platform one of Carnforth station is renowned for being the location for the 1945 film Brief Encounter.
Platform two is much more interesting.
When it was built in 1937 the platform's curved roof was the longest unsupported concrete roof in Britain (890ft).
I didn't know that, until today.
It's been my local station for thirty years.
The other side of the tracks.
