Great Scottish Swim Course

Big day today as we were off to do the Great Scottish Swim in Loch Lomond.
Big breakfast and waited for SR to come over. Headed over to Balloch for the swim. Weather was OK but the wind was picking up. Met MS there with her family and we got ready.

The announcer said that the wind had changed direction and it was a bit choppy for the first 200m. This translated into the first 700m into the waves. Very hard work as they were big enough to prevent you from seeing the marker buoys when you looked up. Managed to get to the half waypoint in 21:30 minutes before heading home. Much better on the way back but still had trouble with my goggles, which meant I was stopping a lot. Managed to complete the course in 39:30 by my watch. Just shows how bad it was on the way out if the second half was much quicker.

SR was already out and MS and J finished not far behind us. This was J’s last fund raising event for Brain Tumour Research in memory of Flip Top. She would have been proud.

Had a picnic there before heading home for a fish supper, couple of beers and a night in front of the TV watching the qualifying.
