A first

It's great when you do something you have never done before. Today for the first time I crossed the Thames on the woolwich ferry. Thanks to the young man parking us who after a "sad face" let us park at the front rather than make us join the end of the queue to the right, resulting in a good, if rainy, view up the river to the Thames barrier.
