Reflections on the mining industry!

Went on a visit today to the National Coal Mining Museum near Wakefield - never been before but have been wanting to go for years. Despite the rain it was a fascinating place and let's face it - going 140 metres underground - the weather didn't matter!
This is a pic taken just before we were handed our lamps and hard hats to go 'dan't pit' - and just before we handed in our phones, and …….. choke…… our cameras….. WHAT!!! So … an hour and a half tour without both - gosh - a real blast from the past and what an industry and history!!! Eric - who gave the tour underground - workt int mines since ee were a lad - from age 16 int 60s to retirement - and he loved it… and most of the time I had no idea what he was talking abaaat!
A fascinating place and a fabulous day :)
