Dragonfly

Shot this at Tharri monastery, in the hills of Rhodes near Laerma.

The monastery is a very peaceful place, but surprisingly for Greek monasteries, we saw no cats!

The walls are covered in old frescoes, but it's a case of look and commit to memory as no photography allowed. We were greeted by a guide who told us all about the monastery, and how a forest fire a few years ago had miraculously stopped at the gates of the monastery - all around you can see the burned trunks and branches of trees, looking rather ghostly.

We also bought some rather fine souma there - the local spirit made from grapes, similar I suppose to raki, but somewhat more drinkable!
