Ice Water Challenge
Today I took part in the Ice Water Challenge. A friend nominated me on Facebook last night and so I dutifully had a soaking today.
In case you've not seen the challenge - the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, involves dumping a bucket of ice water on someone's head to promote awareness of the disease amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and encourage donations to research. It's meant to simulate a tiny part of how it feels to have the condition.
ALS is known as motor neurone disease (MND) in the UK. So I took part in the challenge and donated £5 to MND Scotland. If you want to join the cause without getting wet, you can donate by texting ICED14 £5 to 70070.
Big thanks to the SCVO team for making it happen:
Paul Cardwell and Scott Keillor (and a random passer-by) for tipping the bucket
John Ferguson for his photography skills
Kate Wane for filming
Sara (pictured above) and Alison for the support
It would appear that as I did it at work, I'm also now famous - check out number 10 here to watch the full 1 minute 18 seconds!
