Family heirloom
I don't know much about this jug, other than 'it's been in the family a long time' and hope it will survive my custodianship. I love it's curving shapes and the simplicity (and shiny-ness) of the gold decoration, even though I don't generally like gilding. The shape is exquisite.
I have a love-hate relationship with things and am not very good at looking after them. I was careful to move the jug though, whilst I am repainting the windowcill, and popped it back briefly for the blip, good light being a scarce commodity today. My pint-pot cottage is not ideal when it comes to DIY! So, on reflection, the low lounge table at perfect Flash's-tail-sweeping height is probably not sensible. Years ago, whilst moving house, my father-in-law put a ladder through an early Delft plate which I'd bought for a song in an auction. Poor man was heart-broken as he had left it the wall because it was safer there ... oh, the ephemeralness of things!
Thanks for all the lovely comments on my MonoMonday blip, courtesy of Flash! Just off to band practice and have got a bit behind!
