Barnacles

A dreadfully wet and windy day so it was easy to spend it playing in my studio. I am experimenting with an old pair of jeans and making some sort of barnacle/lichen/mossy kind of thing for an exhibition in the RDS in October. The theme is Shelf Life and I am thinking about how lichen and barnacles grow and live and indeed decorate 'shelves' all over the place. Whereas I rather like the denim and the idea of a life after being discarded, it is difficult not to be tempted by those brilliant colours in real life, hence the brilliant green silk one! It is also nice not to be working in the same colour palette as all my recent stuff.
