heron

I went to Grasmere ihoping to see all the goldfinches that were feeding on the knapweed  seed heads a few weeks ago.. They had disappeared - perhaps moved on to another food source.

Decided to walk back along the other side of the river and was looking for a dipper when I glimpsed something much bigger on the opposite bank. I sat on the rocks and this heron just stood, first on both legs and then on one, while I took loads of photos.  Some were over exposed and others were out of focus but I'm pleased with this.
