New Territory....
We just got back late last night, from a weekend trip to Halifax. We were down there to observe the Atlantic Craft Trade show....with the view to taking part as exhibitors next year. It was wonderful to get a hit of city chaos...and we stayed at the swanky Delta hotel and this was our view.
Spent a lot of time wandering the isles of the show, chatting with a few of the exhibitors who were all very generous with their feedback about the show....seems like the overall consensus was that the numbers of buyers and exhibitors was down this year, but overall they seemed to feel it was still a worthwhile show to do. One of the surprises for me was meeting a couple (David and Christie) that i went to art school with many, many years ago....god they looked so much older - i of course, look just the same - hahahaha....suffice to say Christie didn't recognize me at first!!! It was really lovely to catch up with her and David.....it's been about 25 years since we graduated - gulp! She's a potter and he's a cabinet maker. We had some interesting discussions about the different directions we've taken! It might be good to keep in touch with them!
We also meet up with a few friends on both nights and had wonderful food, hot Chinese one night and delicious Thia the next. Walking around downtown Halifax during the day was fun and funky.......and altho it didn't snow, it was bloody cold.
Another interesting aspect was attending a workshop on Internet Marketing...this is where the new territory is opening up for me...i've just spent many hours trying to navigate my way thro starting a blog! This image is one i took today to use as my banner. anyway, at this rate, i might get my blog up and running by the end of the winter! There seems to be a whole world of marketing out there that i've basically been oblivious to....so i'm changing that!
