A very young miss-summerfinch
She's taking a morning nap just outside my opened window, leaning peacefully against the screen.. No cat has pounced to end her snooze.
This spring we have had three batches of house finches-- both the plain and red variety, and one hatching of rose-breasted grosbeak finches. They all fledged at the same time and threatened to eat the other birds out of house and home. They ganged up on the feeders and gobbled all day getting to be fat little finches indeed.
This little darling is a near relative of misswinterfinch -- that heroic wee house finch for whom the blog is named.
