The end of this year's "Paris Plages"
Photographed from above Quai Mitterand, on the north bank of the Seine. Paris Plages closed yesterday, the quay will probably be open for traffic again in a few days.
You can see bouquinistes' stalls to the left, perching on top of the high quay wall. The bridge is the Pont-Neuf, the city's oldest bridge; behind it are the turrets of the Conciergerie, where Marie-Antoinette and Louis XVI spent their final days.
