If you can't beat them...

Brown Hare (Lepus europaeus)

After the evening meal clickychick was out and I decided to go for a walk "up the forest".

I took a path which I don't often use which leads along the top of a Limestone outcrop about 20 -25 feet high. I was trying out the new camera for close up shots on Harebells, Knapweed and other things. At one point I walked to the edge of the crag to look at Rowan berries. I noticed a movement below me it was a Brown Hare, it is years since I saw one round here.

They must be like buses you wait and then 2 come together because as I was driving up to the forest a Leveret ran along the road in front of me. A Hare posing conveniently for a blip is just what you don't need when you have an 18 -55mm lens fitted. Holding my breath I changed to the 200mm and it was still there. I took a few shots and it was quite unconcerned allowing me to walk along the crag to get right above it.

This wasn't the best shot I took today but its rarity value made me choose it. The Brown Hare is said to be widespread in farmland, heath and even woodland but certainly not here for a number of years.
