Rigoletto

Al and I went to see out friend Rosalind in Rigoletto. It was fantastic. Apart from the excitement of seeing someone you know performing and them being brilliant, it was also a fantastic production that I just loved!

It was sung in English so instead of;

La donna è mobile
Qual piuma al vento,
Muta d'accento — e di pensiero!

We had;

Woman is flighty
Like a feather in the wind,
She changes her voice — and her mind!

The staging was a sort of Victorian Carnival, with the players retelling the story of Rigoletto. The costumes were brilliant, just the kind of thing I like; ragged glamour with ripped fishnets, corsets and swirling gypsy skirts with button boots and lots of black, white and red. Beautiful.

Al and I had dinner first and had such a great evening.
