The Museum's Cat is a Bravecat
I went to the opening of an exhibition of paintings and designs by forgotten painter, Hugh Green, at Stirling Smith Museum & Art Gallery tonight.
I Blipped about Hugh Green (1892-1973) the other day.
I loved the booklet the Smith has produced to mark the occasion written by James Wedlake. James has brought this modest house painter back to life.
Green, who lived all his life in Bridge of Allan, was a friend of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, whom he met when he attended night classes at Glasgow School of Art as a young man. Mackintosh was a good deal older but clearly had a lasting influence on the young Hugh.
A highlight was meeting the Snith's resident cat, Oswald, who tweets as @smithsupercat
We last conversed virtually when he Tweeted a picture of himself beside the gallery's painting of William Wallace - with the hashtag #Bravecat.
Oswald is pictured here with his deputy PA, Michelle, who made the formal introductions.
