fresh ....oh so fresh!
doesn't get much fresher than this....terry just picked this sweet corn and i've just photographed it, and put into the water....we'll be eating it before you even see this !!!!
what a day this has been! up at 7am.....into the mudroom by 8! folks coming and going, kiln loaded.
it's not often that i have to spend half an hour with someone who has just spent 4 days in one of the cabins...in tears! she was so sweet, and so open....it was a strange combination of feeling so intimate with this woman i'd only spoken with a couple of times! the details aren't important, suffice to say she is someone dealing with way too much on her plate and having to put on a 'mask' as she described it! having had 4 days here, in this environment that offers you some time to let yourself breath and therefore feel....she was overwhelmed! the other conflicting feelings are that i so needed to get on with my work...but how could i just interrupt her moment of vulnerability! so i didn't! and you know, the sky didn't fall down!!!
but things did kinda fall apart around 6pm when i was still in the mudroom, making up the last of the 4 glazes...and as i tried to measure out the 2nd last ingredient, into the last glaze.....i was short just a few hundred grams of zinc oxide!!!! frantic phone calls made to every potter i know on the island...and there are only about 5-6 that i can contact! finally success...i located some zinc and will have to travel an hour each way to 'borrow' this !
burgers on the bbq, wine being drunk....i'll survive this just fine!!!
