A bit of teaching mixed in with temples....
Not satisfied with circumnavigating all the temples of the popular small and large circle routes, (and probably because we are big geeks), we headed 30 minutes out of town to view the Roluos group of temples. These temples are the earliest permanent structures built by Khmer, dating from the late 9th century.... like I said, geeks!
Pretty much deserted from tourists, the crumbling remains were made even more special when we stumbled upon a free school, run by monks, hidden behind a temple. They were having an English lesson, and before we knew it, we were being coaxed into helping them practice. We were more than happy to get involved, but felt a tad guilty when we realised we'd gatecrashed their only hour of school they have a week!
