Ascott House, Wing, Buckinghamshire.

Another Rothschild house visit today this time Ascott.

Formerly a rambling farmhouse & originally built in the early 1600s, it has been much extended over the years. More recently in the 1930s when not only was it improved greatly again by the Rothschilds but it was filled with art treasures of all kinds including paintings by Reynolds & Gainsborough.

We didn't go inside today but just wandered the gardens looking at all the fountains and features. Because we only live 9 miles away we could easily go again tomorrow though it is more likely that we will visit a little later in the season.

Dull breezy day with the odd light shower
