SKI ENGINEERING

Ever since we arrived a month ago, the car parking space at our new home has resembled a gigantic meccano set. They are constructing a new ski lift here in Zuoz and they assembled everything down to the last bolt here in the car park above the valley. Today, bright and early was obviously construction D-Day. Piece by piece, pylon by pylon, each unit was flown up the hillside to be assembled in place at each prepared location. The precision and sheer speed of the operation was truly amazing, as was skill of the construction crew, who have become familiar faces around the place. However, towards the end of the day it became a race against the elements as an unexpected storm swept over.
