The Andes
Arrived in Cusco today. After a short internal flight of just over an hour we had come from sea level in Lima to over 12000 ft. Wow. Have met up with the small group of 9 I will be walking and travelling with over the next few days and our local guide who is incredibly informative and fun....she has also given us very detailed and sound advice in dealing with the altitude change which I am definitely heeding as I feel more than a bit weird! She is doing her best to say "Bev" but it just always comes out as "Bear" as she can't pronounce "v" Consequently the rest of the group have just nicknamed me Paddington instead.
We have not walked much today , as we need to rest, this shot was taken on a brief stop from our little bus early evening. We will do some easier walks tomorrow in prep for Machu Picchu the day after.
